ORGANIC COTTON

At Growing Collective, our goal is to provide sustainable, high-quality clothing while minimizing our impact on the environment. We believe that the choice of materials is crucial in ensuring a responsible production process. Cotton, a natural plant fiber derived from cotton plants, is the most widely produced textile fiber in the world, especially in the textile industry.

To promote ethical and environmentally friendly practices, we have chosen to use organic cotton in our clothing design. Organic cotton cultivation offers several advantages over conventional methods. Unlike traditional cotton growing, which contributes to the pollution and depletion of resources, organic cotton is grown using natural compost instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Organic cotton cultivation also avoids the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which helps protect ecosystems and preserve biodiversity. In addition to its comfort and durability comparable to conventional cotton, organic cotton allows us to conserve significant amounts of water.

Compared to a classic cotton T-shirt that requires around 2500 liters of water, an organic cotton T-shirt only needs approximately 100 liters. To put it into perspective, 2500 liters of water is equivalent to 70 showers. This significant difference in water consumption is attributed to the organic fertilizers used in cultivation, which promote healthier and more moisture-retaining soil.

Furthermore, traditional cotton production accounts for 25% of global insecticide use, degrading our ecosystem and polluting the land. Organic cotton, on the other hand, offers a fairer, healthier, and more natural alternative. It consumes fewer resources, promotes sustainability, and has a lesser impact on the environment and human health.

In addition to its environmental benefits, our organic cotton clothing offers exceptional qualities. The fibers of organic cotton are softer, more supple, and thicker compared to conventional cotton. Moreover, they are non-allergenic. These solid fibers contribute to the production of robust and sustainable clothing.
